G-Performance have been advising customers on the best components for sim racing for years and, using our most common recommendations and customer purchase data we’ve put together combinations of the most popular and best components we use for new sim builds.
Ascher Racing F28-SC V2
When we test drove the Ascher Racing F28-SC we had a blast – the firmness of the unit is thanks to the very carefully machined Aluminium body. It feels weighty, sturdy and presents no flex whatsoever.
When you have a close look, you can see how much nicer the engineering work is on a wheel like this, compared to a mainstream sim racing brand. It is a highly ergonomic and satisfying sim racing steering wheel, rated as one of the best formula style wheels available in the market.
Compared to its previous model, the F28-SC V2 features a closed shape and motorsport rubber grips.
- Improved grip ergonomics including slightly larger diameter, thinner lower section, different top shape to push top button
- Rubber grips:
- are not showing any tear
- offers much more grip
- perfect hardness (not too soft, not too hard) for much easier endurance racing without getting exhausted
- can be used without using gloves (also with sweaty hands)
- better hygienics
The F28-SC V2 features Simucube Wireless Wheel technology, which means after quickly pairing with your Simucube, you are ready to drive. There are 14 buttons on the faceplate and Ascher’s very highly rated paddle shifters mounted on the rear. This is a high accuracy, pro eSport driver’s wheel and, when combined with the Simucube 2 Pro, makes for an extremely professional setup indeed.
Simucube 2 Pro
We think the Pro is simply the best wheelbase for a sim racing enthusiast to own. The direct drive system in the Simucube 2 Pro wheelbase is ultra-smooth, even at high torque levels and communicates track detail and chassis movement consistently, in an almost clinical manner! Simucube DD wheelbases come with TrueDrive, the drivers and configuration tool for all Simucube devices.
In TrueDrive, you will find plenty of settings to tune the feel of your wheel plus useful pre-sets for popular sim racing platforms including iRacing, Assetto Corsa and more.
We recently reviewed the Simucube 2 Pro including installation into your sim chassis, software configuration and naturally, how it performed during testing. Check out our review of the Simucube 2 Pro here.
